The following provides the answers to the questions I am frequently asked by my clients.
How do you know when the body is out of balance?
These symptoms let us know the body is out of balance and struggling:
- Low energy
- Stiff, Sore Joints
- Gas and Bloating
What do you mean when you say Return to Balance?
Good health is innate to our bodies. The body yearns to be balanced. Giving your body the foundation it needs to bring it back to optimum health may be the most important thing you can do. With dietary changes, proper nutrition, and the right support, the body will return to balance and heal itself. A healthy, balanced person has plenty of energy, looks younger, sleeps better, digests well, and eliminates properly. Their mind is alert and focused, accomplishing daily tasks with ease, and enjoying life.
What can I expect during the initial individualized health consultation?
First we determine your state of health and where you want to be. Next we evaluate your dietary habits, stress levels, sleep patterns, and activity level. I then do a 24-hour urine analysis to see how your body is digesting, assimilating, eliminating and getting along. From this information, I prepare a report of findings which we’ll review during a follow up visit. I then create for you an individualized plan to return your body to a state of balance. As I like to describe to my clients, we “fix the flat tire and then fill it up.”
What is holistic nutrition?
Proper nutrition is the basis for optimum health and well-being. Holistic nutrition, a part of holistic health is the modern natural approach to developing a healthy balanced diet while taking into account the person as whole. A long term course of action includes emotional and spiritual health along with the physical body. Modern medicine focuses on treating a symptom rather than the root cause. If a person is experiencing a symptom or chronic condition, the problem has most likely been developing for some time. With holistic nutrition, the focus is on preventive health with an understanding of the importance nutrition plays in the maintenance of health before illness and disease can develop. The goal of holistic nutrition is to facilitate a health recovery plan as well as build a strong foundation for long term optimum health.
Will I have to go on a diet?
NO. My purpose is to teach people a healthy way of eating for life. It is NOT a diet. Rather, I will ask you to eat in a way that is most supportive of your body, which will put it in the optimum mode for health. This does not involve specially made food or hard-to find food. This is a conscious way of eating with an understanding that everything we put into our mouths either adds to our health and well-being or takes away from it.
Will I lose weight on this program?
If you are in need of weight loss, following the recommendations of the program will encourage excess pounds to drop away. Once your body has achieved a state of balance, you will find that a healthy weight and size will be the by product.
What is Enzyme Replacement Therapy?
When certain enzymes are depleted, the body will begin to struggle to maintain balance. Just because you ingest something, does not mean you digest it! And even if you digest it, you may not absorb, utilize or eliminate it. Enzymes are the workers of your body that can help bring the balance back, allowing nutrients into the body and waste out. Enzyme Replacement Therapy is a temporary, effective support that gives your body a chance to heal. I will recommend the right enzymes to help restore the body’s healthy balance.
How long will I have to be on this program?
The program is tailored to each individual. There are several determining factors in how long the program and the process of restoring balance in the body will be. These include the nature and severity of the issue or issues you are dealing with, the length of time the issue has been there, your age/state of health, and your willingness to comply with the recommendations.
Will we focus on food and what I should or shouldn’t be eating?
After determining what the body most struggles to digest and absorb, I will recommend an eating plan for you that is most supportive of your body and will put it in the optimum mode for health.
What is a Challenge Exam?
As a Digestive Health Specialist, I use a variety of tests to inform me on what is needed in the body: a Signs and Symptoms Questionnaire; a 24 Hour Urinalysis lab work; and a Challenge Exam. The Challenge Exam is typically part of the initial consultation. It starts with a fasting exam, where I look for muscle contraction which correlates to an organ to determine if there’s any stress on the body due to improper nutrition or digestion of food or the lack of enzymes. Then I will have you ingest a “challenge” powder consisting of a balanced formula of protein, fats and carbs. I then re-test the body after 45 minutes to identify gland, organ and body system malnutrition stress.
